Velocity differences negligable

I don't know if this is true for everyone, but my p64 plays all notes at basically the same volume.  A velocity of 1 or 16 is nearly the same volume.

1 is quieter for sure, but barely.

ANyone else notice this?

Re: Velocity differences negligable

I just did a test where i had one track with the same note played over and over, with high velocity and low velocity, alternating

no difference in volume at all..

Re: Velocity differences negligable

ahh, but if the filter is not engaged, then there is a VERY slight volume shift.. hmm

a little disapointing, but still workable..

the problem is that I can never heard my drums sounds.. they are always too quiet and in the background, even with EVERYTING at velocity 1 and the drums at Velocity 16... i hear no precussive sounds... it's not danceable!

Re: Velocity differences negligable

With my old brown breadbox squarewave is the loudest and the triangle is the most quiet, so I often used square for drums with cybertracker.
Now with Prophet I've noticed that drums aren't easy to get on top. With more decay you can get them little louder, but I want more.

What SID you're using?

8580 sids.. 2 of em.. great for bass and leads.. bad for drums i guess...

i should buy another cart when they release it again, another sid2sid, and bulid a p64 breadbox for drums.

Re: Velocity differences negligable

With fast and snappy drumsounds you can also try this: in wavetable editor put a bassdrum, snare or a hit hat (with a fixed note value) at the start of the bass or lead and leave the loop at the bass- or lead-sound. I believe that there's couple of those sounds in the P64 presets.
I think I have old sid, propably R1, but the drums (and PWMs) are super loud in drummer and other programs than sequencer.

Re: Velocity differences negligable

It seems that if you set VCA VEL from the right bottom of the instrument editor to SUS and value 3 it works on some sounds, but results aren't always what was meant to -sometimes they are very interesting:)
