C'mon, you understood perfectly what I meant 8)

An adapter or adaptor is a device used to match the physical or electrical characteristics of two different things so that a connection may be made between them.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

If you only want to synchronize, Dtronic's one seem to be the best solution, since it is the only available one now. I was thinking of releasing a DIY kit then soon, since i made already some pc-boards of the simple edition.

For more Midi-Features, i still got some problems with the saving through midi. All PC-Mac Java components doesn't seem to be too flexible to make this simple thing possible.
So i am thinking of releasing the Interface and include a free upgrade for the saving option.

BTW: I don't think Dtronics Midi-Interface is expensive at all. It's not just 5 Euros for components, i am sure its higher and you should always include assembling time and developing time!
And if people think it's too expensive: Why don't you just get it all for 5 euros and build it yourself????

I got vacation now and think about a good solution for all and hope to provide you very soon with all you need!

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Of course you're right Firestarte. I think the components would come to about 10, so when you factor in the time it takes to fabricate a PCB at home, then drill and populate 35 is not too bad. I prefer to build things myself, that's why I tend to mentally dissect products like this.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

About the pricing: don't forget about programming the PIC.
Takes another EUR 40,-- to get the gear to do that.
Trust me on that, I considered the DIY version wink

Oh, btw... it wouldn't surprise me if the Dtronics board would arrive here before Xmas tongue

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

@ salkinitzor: No, you don't have ot build it yourself.
We are merely considering that IF you'd build it yourself, it might in the end be cheaper IF you have PIC programming stuff and the ability to make PCBs.
If you can't do both of them, buying a prefab board is cheaper by far.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

I received the Dtronics Prophet64 interface last night.
It was properly packed in a carton box.
The first impression of the interface is that it was well done and not some amateur job.
Haven't got the chance to experiment with it but I hope to upload some jams this weekend.

I did some testing today.
Timing is as stable like a concrete building.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Okay, a quicky...

http://www.funxiun.com/mp3/prophet64-test1.mp3

What you hear is a C64-II (with 8580 SID) and some delay-fx added.
Beats are coming from a Roland TR606 drumcomputer.

It is just a quick test to see if that midi-sync device is stable.
Well...yeah. It is stable alright! big_smile

Hmm, stock 606 doesn't have MIDI! it's DIN sync only, unless you have it modded...

Does your 606 have MIDI?! and if not, can you test the interface with MIDI sync and let us know?

No, my 606 isn't modded. It was controlled with a midi -> din sync device.

The C64 interface works for 100% with the rest of my midi chain.

I am really happy with it coz it's useful.

That's a good idea, but don't you think it's better to wait for Firestarter's interface? Apparently the new interface is limited to "MIDI sync" and "program change" only...

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

I think this be pretty cool, since it does almost the same i use the LSDJ MC2 for, and I really dont need much more than syncing...
IF I could program more than 4 parameters to MIDI CCs at the same time, then I'd consider waiting.

As it is, it seems i'll build meself one of these wink

By the way, I couldnt  hear that example MP3. Can you upload it again?

Cheers!
