BPM conversion...

The drummer, as well as the bassline etc has a digit to represent the speed it runs, ranging from 0 to 15. Talking about the TEMPO

But in terms of BPM what are the values? or how can one calculate them?

Sad that nobody is following the drummer edition discussion 8(

Re: BPM conversion...

You could try to determine this by recording a 4x4 kick-track and loading this in ACID.
ACID kan determine the BPM of an audiofile.

If I had the time, I'd do it for you... but I'm leaving for London to celebrate a well-earned short holiday smile

Re: BPM conversion...

I dont have ACID. I was thinking @ this solution too but I guess I need something less empiric...

I could try by TAP in a bpm calculator but it's still too empiric...

Re: BPM conversion...

Yeah, one could BPM tap or load the sample into ACID or Ableton Live, but it's srt of nonsense. I wish the software would have brought a BPM value instead of those cryptic speed values.

Some sort of calculation must be possible...

What does the word "empiric" mean to you?

Re: BPM conversion...

When you measure something in the reality, Not when you calculate it.

Example, the circonference of a circle can be empiric: you measure it with a meter, or "theorical": you multiply its ray * ray * 3,14 (or something).

Re: BPM conversion...

BPM is calculated with maths so simple even I can understand it. You only need to know the periodic time of one bar.

It would be worth taking a number of samples over a length of time though, as c64's tend to drift a lot. So by sampling a number of loops at different points in your recording you could work out some sort of mean average tempo for each value....

This is another (clever) empiric trick.
