Midi Interface Question?

Hi

Is it possible to output note data via this interface to a USB midi interface for recording on a PC? I am using a P64 cartridge, the interface below and a USB midi interface.

I am also a little unsure of which port is midi in and out on the interface?

I have only ever used a midi interface to send and receive midi data from a keyboard to PC and back, nothing too adventurous.

Thank you

Gavin.

Re: Midi Interface Question?

The Dtronics interface is just for syncing P64 with other midi hardware. Unfortunately, it doesn't feature any note data transmission.
AFAIK, there's going to be a full-featured MIDI interface for Prophet-64 by firestARTer.

That's unfortunate. I guess I'll have to hang on for such a device.

Thank you for replying

Re: Midi Interface Question?

Prophet64 doesn't support Midi-Out so you can't use it as sequencer. There are only simple things like pattern select or sync out but i guess i won't implement it.

That sucks hmm Well are there any other apps out there (Cynthcart, et al) that support it?

Re: Midi Interface Question?

for just midi sequencing, or for sending notes from the keyboard with an overlay like Cynthcart? there's more than a few midi sequencing programs for the C64, notably from Passport and Sonus as well as Sequential, Moog, and others. there must be others, but i'm not sure at the moment.

actually, even 'Instant Music' from EA can send notes via midi out on three channels. i've done it, but i don't think it accepts midi input. i did notice that the midi clock output on it was crap though - jumping constantly between 120-140bpm, for example.

Re: Midi Interface Question?

so if Im reading this right, I cant output prophet 64 sounds to a midi interface, but I can sync up with a midi interface so that when certain stuff happens, the prophet stuff clicks in on time??

Re: Midi Interface Question?

Sound and midi are not compatible; sound is a sound signal, midi is a data signal.

With a MIDI interface, you can synchronise the Prophet64 music with external MIDI devices.
This is only synchronisation and program change: the Prophet64 can not read or write notes over MIDI.

If everything is under control, you're not going fast enough.
