DIN interface questions....

So I'm trying to build the DIN interface. Do I need a converter to sync my linux sequencer / MIDI to Prophet 64 or can I use the DIN cables straight to MIDI? If so, where do I get a good converter (inexpensive, hopefully)? Thanks.

Re: DIN interface questions....

Of course you can't connect the Sync to MIDI.
Because if you could it wouldn't be called SYNC, it would be called MIDI, right?
You need a convertor, like the Doepfer MSY2 (which is the best) or some equivalent from Kenton or Philip Rees (the most expensive, I believe).

Re: DIN interface questions....

Just build one of these, as low-budget as it gets.

Never forget also my Prophet64 Midi-Interface:

Which is probably the easier solution.

Re: DIN interface questions....

It's also "forthcoming" and not "currently available"

I can certainly understand the urgency of getting this machine in your midi setup as soon as possible.

As for that low cost DIY thing, i've got a friend who used it and he said it was worthless when he used his laptop, and that it was only good when he used his drum machine as a master clock.

Don't know if you care about that sort of thing.

I also have a phillip rees MDS (midi-din sync) converter for sale.  I was going to put it on ebay but if anyone here wants to buy it, make me an offer.

HEY FIRESTARTER!  tht might be a good forum heading.  a marketplace/garage sale place..

leds, sockets, etc..
