I've modded my C64 to add an S-Video output. Here are some photographs showing the results:
As you can see, the picture is very sharp and crisp. It makes reading the graphics, particularly on the Monosynth, much easier, and is a good deal less tiring on the eyes. The television used is a Philips flat-screen.

Yeah, it's good.. I've done the same thing, plus that I've put a potentiometer on the chroma signal, so I can lower the amount of color sent to the TV (to cure bleeding colors..).

Yeah, I put a trimpot on the line in there as well.
I'm going to tweak it a little to try to get a better picture on CRTs.

I thought of it after I've already put the pot there, that a trimpot would have been better.. But I'll stick to the ordinary turn potentiometer for now..

Here's the back of the C64, with S-Video socket (4-pin mini-DIN) and 1/4" outputs for the 6582s.

I also did a conversion:
Another upgrade: s-video, component & audio
But the thing is that the picture quality is not perfect, shall i desolder the din8 female plug and solder directly thicker wires to the PCB?

Looks good Berry.
You don't need thick wires for the video signal. But do check the integrity of the connections with a multimeter if you have one.
Do you have any pics of your screen running MSSIAH?
Nice work there.

I wonder, does this offer more than a cosmetic improvement over leading chroma and luma directly from the VIDEO port?

how do you wire in your trimpot? and what resistance did you choose? thanks.

No, it's the same.

Been quite a while since I posted all this! The trimpot has been removed as I found it was unnecessary.

BTW, I see you have monojack sockets on your c64. Did you implement some sort of protection?
