Which chip combo should I use of these SIDs I have?

Hello,
I understand that you aren't supposed to mix 6581 and 8580 chips in a basic sid2sid setup.

Q1: Is it fine to mix any/all 6581 variants together though?

I assume it would be, as tracking down two identically printed 6581 chips would be difficult.
I also understand certain 6581's have a better filter? (R4's?)

I have a working c64 with SID chip model no:
6581-0184

and 3 additional SIDs:

6581-1683
6581R (underneath it says 4585)
6581R4 (underneath 3486 5)

Q2: Which chip is the "best" (best sound/filter etc)? If it is the R4, is it ok to swap my current 6581-084 out for the R4?

Q3: If so, which chip should I use as SID #2?

Im just trying to find the best chip configuration for my sid2sid and also curious about swapping out my current main SID regardless if an R4 will sound better.

Thanks!

Hi mate you just need to check for yourself what sounds good to your ears. I would use "better sounding" as sid 1.
