Re: C64 dead after Pot soldering?

i'd also be interested to see if anybody's fried some sid chips following these pot mods.

So far I've fried 2x6581's and 1x8050 on two separate c64's!!!
(then again, I've also got the sid2sid AND am running the FS-midi interface. So it's really hard to pinpoint the exact reason for the chip-failures.)

Re: C64 dead after Pot soldering?

the sid are perfect working if i mount on another board.. i also have othe more 2 c64 with the same mode perfect working. 1 8580 and one 6581.
Along the years i had about 50 c64 and many went broken. I think some of them are old and not so resistant to soldering. My luck i have 8 sid collected i think i gonna build the midibox.. so i can have sid sound on a more stable system.

Re: C64 dead after Pot soldering?

You burned this cause your diagram mixes UP and DOWN button to X an Y accelerators. Due this shortcut it may seem that the CPU might not stand this command UP and DOWN same time.
The dark screen may also be VIC failure.

What we learn from electronics.

Re: C64 dead after Pot soldering?

the diagram says from the back of the board so i mirrow it, and it should be ok.
Or could you please post a diagram that explain in picture what do you mean?
