Try C6 sysex tool... i didn't try it out (maybe it only will work with Elektron hardware) but i found it through google in like 30secs... if it's not a fitting solution i bet you could find another one yourself by using some secs on google too

i've successfuly used C6 to send samples to my E-mu e4X. not sure if it requires a 'MIDI handshake' though (needing two cables). not sure about sample conversion either, but this can be done in a number of ways.

Nice to know that it works with non-elektron hardware now, with a bit of luck DownerCZX will try it out and return here to report his C6-adventures, letting all of us forum-users learn from his experiences.
It would be supernice to have C6 as a working solution as there are both a mac and pc version available!!

Well, it keeps saying "Wrong Format" on the 64 when I send anything. So far, it worked fine with Sound Forge Demo. Too bad it expires in 30 days. I think that the elektron program is working as a closed loop sender. Yes, I've used google. Don't always assume that if someone asks a question they haven't "googled" it!

i just assumed it because you asked about 6581/8580 setup too, and i found that simply by searching the forum the C6 i found through Google, and i'm sure that another alternative to Sound forge demo is out there.. I looked at wavosaur and audacity but they don't seem to sport wave transfer through MIDI... i'll keep looking!

i dunno about midi dumping but if you want to convert bitrate and depth of a sound, you can use audacity, goldwave or soundstudio (os x)

ron if you intend "+decimate" of soundhack, it doesn't actually output a file with reduced bitrate and depth. it just makes the sound you feed it sound like a bitreducted sound (how many "sound" words did i use back from the start ) but the original sound playing is still at 44100 24bit by default on os x, if i remember right.

Anyone succeed in MIDIdumping a sample using Wavelab?

Nope, I mean just http://soundhack.com/SndHckDoc/]soundhack, the editing program. It can open almost anything containing audio, header change and save to almost any data format you could think of.
Using it since System7...

Ah! Nice! With that software I might be able to easily backup the patchmemory of my Sidstation!

Hehe! I found one (freeware) for the Commodore Amiga system.. Haven't tried it yet, (since I don't even have a MSSIAH anyway)..
http://aminet.net/package/mus/midi/MPMaster
Maybe someone more than me still have an Amiga with MIDI capabilities, and find this useful

I've used Sample Wrench on my A1200 and A2000 to dump from my Yamaha SU-10 sampler and also to send/receive to/from my Roland S-750 and S-760. It's a great sample editor too if you read the manual. It can also downsample and upsample and do all kinds of crazy manipulations.
It's available for the Amiga and Windows. The Amiga version is donationware but the PC version still costs $$$.
see: http://www.dissidents.com/products.htm
Definitely read the included manual as it will help the user interface to make more sense.
I will probably try it with the MSSIAH this weekend and report my results.

Actually I haven't tried yet. Waiting to get the two computers (Amiga 1200 & C64) into the same room together.
Logistics hamper creativity sometimes... hopefully this'll be done & tested by the end of this week.

OK... Amiga MIDI Sample Dump trial results:
Sample Wrench - NO
(only supports dumping in 12-bit or 16-bit formats, also doesn't support open-loop)
Sample Dumper - NO
(MSSIAH reports "Wrong Format" partway through transfer)
MPMaster - YES
(I saved my sample from Sample Wrench in 8bit raw unsigned (I think actually it needs signed), loaded it in MPMaster, and once MPMaster could open serial.device, it transferred just fine!)

I have successfully transmitted samples to the wave player, using this windows software.

I should point out that the software also has a built in resampler/bit depth reduction, so we can get the required 6khz 8-bit format without using anything else, and it will let you choose between left or right channel mono on stereo files, as it only deals with mono files (i think).
