Re: Jiffy Dos

yes, it is compatible, its one of the most compatible speeders.
to install it you have to change the kernal-chip (i think) inside your c64 and your 1541. jiffydos is a chip its not software.

Re: Jiffy Dos

Yeah, i have the chips..

i got them second hand, so I dont' have the installation manual.  Do you just pull the kernel chip and replace it?  or is thre more..

Re: Jiffy Dos

maybe there is a manual somewhere, i will look, but yes, just replace the chips....its easy if your kernal-chips are in sockets, if not you have to desolder them...

here is a JiffyDos quick refrence card

Re: Jiffy Dos

Still got a Jiffy chip for a C64 and a 1541-II right here... thanks for finding the manual.
I still need to make a switch so I can toggle between modified ROM and standard ROM.
Something for a dark and rainy winter's night, I think...

Re: Jiffy Dos

Would there be any advantage to using jiffy dos with an xm1541 cable, or the 64ctp? Also, I have read that it is not possible to use a tape drive with jiffy-dos, can someone confirm this?

Am I the only guy who makes hip-hop with SID Chips?

Re: Jiffy Dos

i think there is no advantage with 64tpc or xm1541, there is just speed increase between a c64 and disk drives with installed jiffy-dos, i think there is no tape boost!?!?
