I thought I'll start a thread of pro's and con's.
Hopefully the alien maker of P64 will read this and take it into account when developing ver. 2!
Pro's
• Midi sync support
• Mouse support
• Second SID support
• Lovely writen manual
Con's
• Simple instrument page
• No triplets or other uncommon note lengths
• Only 4/4 time signature
• One slide value per instrument
• Settings can't be saved
• Only one bar long parts can be created with pencil tool (for longer parts you'll have to make several parts and glue them together)
• Not to many keyboard shortcuts
• Only one LFO
• Modulations of the filter is resticted to the one LFO or a ADSR envelope
• No filemanager (deleting files and formatind disks)
Please keep in mind that these are my personal thoughts and that I'm posting them here in hopes that there will be a second version of P64 that would take a deeper use of the SID chip. I find P64 to be a wonderfull piece of software as it is today, I just feel there are a few thing that could be improved to make it perfect!
I'm hoping the lists will increase by other users (esecially the first!).
Love,
tCm

Pro:
Rocks like Hell!!

I haven't even got my copy of the new P64 software, but it all looks brilliant to me! I especially like the idea of not having to boot my PC to sequence stuff, particularly late at night.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
Pro's
Extremely cheap!
Plug & Play cart (ROM version would be nice )
Real retro pre-sets
Con's
No battery memory, would be nice for saving inst patches etc.
for the sequencer...
pros
wavetable in the instrument section
the 2 hubbard kicks!
like using modern software such as cubase/logic
cheap and easy authentic sid synthesis solution
cons
timing a bit 'off' sometimes
no manual (yet!)
heres my set up... need more space!

A lot of PRO's here, same like mine.
but another Con: there is no filemanager
Offline
but there are file managers for windows PCs and DOS pcs and probably macs..
like CBM4WIN and Star Commander

yes there are a lot of file managers, but it would be good to delete files on a disc or using other devicenumbers under prophet....mangage files, not only loading and saving

Yes. And since there aren't that many settings to speak of, it's probably faster to changce them every time you start up the sequencer!

Another CON's that I think next version should fix:
THE CART CANT BE BYPASSED by a software option or a switch.
