Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Oh yeah! Looks suspiciously like a 16F84 PIC onboard there. Pretty much exactly what I was planning to build!
I guess the price is ok in considering it's a fully assembled piece of kit. Personally I look at it and see £5 worth of components, but I guess we all have to make a buck here and there.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Then you don't have to buy one wink
This one was build together with some diy guys who love the prophet64, schematics and code are free available from them.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Please do. I'm interested to see if the PIC can drive the logic levels on the user-port directly without buffering. If so, it would make things slightly easier for me.
EDIT: I just realised that my earlier post may have seemed like I looking down on the developers for charging for their work etc. This is just not the case, I think it's great that people will finally be able to sycn their P64's. Maybe this place will get a little livelier in the near future!

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Humm....of course, nice that someone is starting to do some stuff here.
But the ability to sync the P64's is not new.

There is no big difference to the dtronics one. Except that the dtronics one got a little more features at the moment.

...Userport-Pins are simply drivable by a PIC.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Let your prophet64 run in sync with your midi setup!

Sounds like is not going to do anything more than the SYNC24 + a midi converter would. No note triggering, CC....only start-stop-continue-tempo am I right?

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Yes, it looks to me as though it's not doing anything fancy at all, though it does have sync out which other converters don't. The key thing with the dtronics product is that it's actually available for people to buy.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

Now that there finally is something, you shouldn't complain, alright! wink

From the website:
"You can also use program-change messages over midi to change the presets in your prophet software."

I ordered one too (if I'm not too late).

If everything is under control, you're not going fast enough.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

I don't complain; I dont' even take it in consideration because it's not a MIDI interface, but a sort of adaptor.

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

but one thing it is, is actually available.

firestarter's so busy, his still isn't done yet.  I have no means to use my p64 with my midi gear.. so i can't use p64 + midines right now.. which is my dream..

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

if firestarter can give me some sort of time frame I can wait, cause i really need the file save mode dealie most of all the features. It is a nice looking product. Wonder if it is firmware upgradeable?

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

hello,
i have a dtronics midi2sny converter and this one is working very fine (3xmidi2sync,1xsync2midi and 48,24,12timings, jack-out too). this one cost me, cant remember, around 58.-eur. i think dtronics ore nice guys, do a great work and their prices are fair (and they send me a free psu and sync-cable too)
maybe i wanna try this prophet64 midi-interface too, there will be a new version of a midi-sync-converter too smile
so, this was a little bit promotion, anyway.
cheers

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

It seems to be 'sales@engineersatwork.nl'.  Oddly I couldn't get their checkout system to work for me, but I did get a total based on my location, so I used that.   Hopefully it won't get over looked.

Firestarter, what do you think?  Will your interfaces be available soon?  or should we buy this?

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

I think I will wait for Firestarter, those guys could be a lil bit opportunist and I´m pretty sure that FireStarter will put "lots of love" on his work, not only trying to make money...

Cheers

Re: New midi interface for prophet64

I must wait for Firestarter simply because this is not an interface, but an adaptor, I repeat.
