Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

I wouldn't mind doing it but I don't have a mouse and I also need a Load/Save solution... any drum enthusiasts want to donate a mouse and a Load/Save device of some sort (preferably 1541-III)? big_smilebig_smile

I happen to own the SD card BTW, so you wouldn't need to worry about that tongue

Cool idea... maybe we should start posting patches and instruments! A simple drum could always be written down in plain text, like "ADSR: 0,8,8,0, Wavetab: +14,-7,-4,-2" etc...

Perhaps a whole new category in this forum...? *hint* *hint*  wink

Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

But the default drums are not all that bad. I like hubbsnare1 because it almost sounds like real snare drum. And popkick is also good because it can cut through a mix pretty well.  But I know what you mean. Maybe you could make some wierd percussion sounds instead of drums. Like, a blip and a dropping zap sound. Or a rattle sound with the wavetable. Everybody knows how the SID can make some really strange percuaaion sounds... even just noises in general!

Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

Yeah, it's a good idea. I'd love to participate but sequencer without a mouse is like an ancient city without a king!

I was waiting for firestarter's interface (the one with load and save solution and PS/2 mouse support whichever edition it is!) but it doesn't seem like it's happening anytime soon so I might as well man up and get a 1351 mouse as well as the mighty 1541-III...

Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

I use a joystick and it's not that bad... It not as nice as a mouse, but not bad. In fact, it's better in some ways because you don't need desk space to use it.

Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

Yeah a joystick would've been okay but I don't have one. I threw them all out years ago! thinking to myself "there's no way I'd ever need one of those" how little I knew... Ever tried to use the sequencer with the keyboard?!!

Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

Joystick is ok in sequencer, but I have only Tac2 wich does have buttons in the boudy not on the stick itself, so I need both hands for joystick and it sucks.
If tou want to create good drums, you must master the pitch control. Quick drop of pitch makes very nice bassdrums and snares. I use square at the beginning of the bassdrum to make it loud and triangle at the end to make it smooth. For snare I make fast two step loop square-noise and put pitch envelope on at page one.

..then it's all about the envelopes.. it can be a bit tricky to tweak them into perfection when working with several wavetabs in a drum loop. But when you get it right, man..it's tight! :-)

I didn't know you could. Sounds really hard. I don't want to try it. :p

Re: Wanted - good drums for sequencer

Yeah you can use the keyboard! You gotta hold down the Control and move the cursor with Shift+Arrows... F3 = click, F5 = right click... good luck big_smile
