New to C64 & New to Mssiah

Hi guys,

New to the forum and pretty new to the C64. I grew up on 8 and 16 bit consoles and was probably just a few years too late for things like the C64. However some very good friends of mine bought me a C64 with Mssiah for my Birthday and I'm keen to get it integrated into the home studio, but as I don't know a whole lot about it yet, I'm afraid I'm going to be troubling you with a few questions over the coming weeks as I get my Mssiah project underway.

The C64 I've got has got the Mssiah cartridge and the Mono Synthesiser Program. It's got two 1/4" Unbalanced Jack Sockets (I assume left and right?), what looks like an S-Video Output and a dodgy LCD screen fitted to the top (this LCD has a poor picture quality and cuts out a lot so I want to get it hooked up to a proper CRT).

I've been making music a long time and like to dabble in old video game soundtrack remixes from time to time. I'm also doing some composing for a couple of indie games right now and I'm very keen to get some C64 tones into some modern game soundtracks ;-).

Anyway, nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting my C64 Mssiah up and running with a little help from what looks to be a very good forum.

Steve

(Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section - I couldn't see a newbie/intro thread, so wasn't entirely sure where to post)

Re: New to C64 & New to Mssiah

Welcome Steve!
This forum is pretty quiet to say the least. well, it has taken 1 year and 8 days for someone to reply to you!
I dip in and out of here from time to time... i've been tinkering with a c64 mod project to run p64/mssiah since around 2007 that I still haven't finished yet! How's that for procrastination?
Here's a little nugget of good advice for a new user of c64+mssiah or p64...(although by now you have potentially been using it for a year)

Always make sure the c64 is powered down/ turned off when connecting or disconnecting audio ins and outs, also never turn connected devices on or off when the c64 is powered up.

make it come out green...
